This is due to the efforts of all parties to the project. Hopefully, this trend will continue. Deo gratias. The authors acknowledge the contribution of employees at all levels of MTA CC, DJ, and the GEC. The GEC authors (Daly, Shey, and Vardakos) especially wish to acknowledge the contribution of those GEC employees who processed a huge amount of information and produced a prodigious volume of reports, computations, and drawings in a very compressed time frame. Listed alphabetically, they are: David Abrahams, Doug Anderson, Colin Barratt, Wil Cao, Sung Choi, Curt Cicileo, Harald Cordes, Charlie Daugherty, Ravi Jain, Artur Kasperski, Kevin Moon, Taehyun Moon, Joung Oh, Jesus Schabib, Lijun Shih, and Alfredo Valdivia.
Due to its efficiency in installation and good strength characteristics, Swellex PM24 type rock dowels were primarily used for initial support. In select sidewall areas, regular rebar dowels were chosen. In sensitive excavation areas with limited overburden to the GCT3 caverns, shotcrete was also chosen along with a regularly installed Swellex dowels. It is interesting to note, that due to the close alignment of the lower level TBM bores, there were overlapping excavation profiles of binocular shape.
